However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room. However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds. 2. iRobot Roomba X30 The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously). It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops. The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads. The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions. Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute known as “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be. For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful. iRobot RX3 The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). cheap robot vacuum mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed. The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any “no go” areas you've marked on the map.
